# Tasks

## What are the smart lists?

sideBar gives you three built-in lists that update automatically:

* **Today**: tasks due today
* **Upcoming**: tasks with a future due date, sorted chronologically
* **Completed**: tasks you have finished

Each smart list shows a live count that updates as you add, complete, or modify
tasks. You cannot delete or rename smart lists.

## How do projects and groups work?

Projects are custom task lists you create for any topic or goal. Groups let you
gather related projects together to keep your list organised. Swipe right on a
project or group to rename it, or swipe left to delete it.

## Can sideBar create and manage tasks for me?

Yes. sideBar can create, update, complete, and organise tasks on your behalf
during any conversation. Just ask in natural language: "add a task to call John
tomorrow" or "mark my grocery run as done". sideBar uses the Tasks skill to
carry this out and confirms what it has done inline in the conversation.

## Can I add notes to a task?

Yes. Each task has an optional notes field for anything extra you want to
remember about it. Notes save automatically as you type.

## Can tasks recur?

Yes. When creating or editing a task you can set recurrence: daily, weekly, or
monthly, with a configurable interval (every N days, weeks, or months) and a
start date. sideBar tracks when the next instance is due and surfaces it in the
right smart list automatically.

## What happens when I complete a recurring task?

Completing a recurring task marks the current instance as done and schedules the
next one automatically based on the recurrence interval you set.

## How do I search tasks?

Tap the search field and start typing. Results filter as you type, matching
against all your tasks across all lists and projects.

## Is there a widget for tasks?

Yes. Tasks due today appear in sideBar's home screen widget on iPhone, iPad,
and Mac so you can see what is on your plate without opening the app. See

## Do tasks sync across my devices?

Yes. Tasks sync across every device where you are signed in to sideBar. If you
change a task while offline, the update is applied immediately on that device
and syncs automatically once it reconnects.
